Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how New Material ("New Material", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the New Material iOS app or App Clip (together, the "App").
The short version
The App does not require an account, does not contain advertising, and does not use your information for cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information. The App mainly displays projects and interactive experiences published by New Material.
Information the App handles
Camera
Some interactive experiences, including FingerTip, request access to your camera. Camera frames are processed on your device to run the interaction. New Material does not upload or retain those camera images or video. You can deny camera access or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings; experiences that need the camera will then be unavailable.
Device motion and haptics
Some experiences use device orientation or motion to position interface elements, and use the device's haptic capabilities to provide feedback. Motion information is processed on the device and is not retained or sent to New Material.
Network and technical information
The App connects to New Material and supporting services to download project information, images, video, interactive assets, public team-presence information, and machine-learning model files. As with ordinary internet requests, the services involved may receive technical information such as your IP address, device and browser information, requested URL, and request date and time. We may use limited server logs to deliver the App, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and protect security.
In-app web pages
When you choose Learn More, the App opens the relevant New Material page in an in-app browser. Those page requests are subject to this policy and may generate the same limited technical server information described above.
Third-party services
The App relies on service providers only where needed to operate its features, including:
- Apple, for App Store, TestFlight, App Clip, operating-system, and device services;
- Cloudflare, for website, content-delivery, network, and hosting infrastructure; and
- FieldDay, to download the model and metadata used by the FingerTip experience. Camera inference itself runs on the device.
These providers may process limited technical information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not allow them to use App information for advertising on our behalf.
Retention
The App does not create a personal profile or store camera or motion data on our servers. Limited operational and security logs may be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot our services, after which they are deleted or anonymised unless a longer period is required by law.
Your choices and rights
You control camera permission through iOS Settings and can stop information processing by ceasing to use or deleting the App. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the App does not require an account, we may need enough information to locate any relevant server record before we can respond.

Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to applicable legal safeguards. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App, our services, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here and update the effective date.
